David,

<shock and disbelief>
You aren't seriously suggesting that PP is a realistic mailer??!!? It's
truly elephantine, buggy, slow, neurotic and does *horrible* things to
emails. It also believes that RFC822 email is just a different form of
X.400. (Take a look at 'top' on granuaile to get an idea how bad it really
is for hogging the system)
</shock and disbelief>

Friends don't let friends use PP. PP really *is* Harmful.

MMDF has a lot of really nice ideas, but it's also got a number of peculiar
bugs and is showing its age quite badly at this stage. It doesn't support
ESMTP or 8-bit mail, but its queueing system has a lot going for it.

Smail is ok for small sites and UUCP, but crap for handling medium to large
volumes of SMTP mail.

The original poster might want to look at qmail or zmailer.

Nick (stuck maintaining mmdf, pp, smail and sendmail :-/ )
