Hey.. a flamewar. Hadn't seen that in a long time. Unfortunately, I seem to
have the need to comment, thus extending the life of this thread. But here
we go.

One thing that strikes me as very sad, is that part of this flamewar
openly involves the 'coremail' archive. I made the mistake of reading
it once, and noticed that there seemed to be a lot of messages in there
that were private, and obviously made public without the approval of the
sender. How can people fall so low that they 1) make such a thing available,
and 2) noone seems to notice (or care) that this contains private messages
and it's a disgrace that it's there in the first place?

I don't care what happened, or who is wrong or right. No matter what
happened, I think that making private email public is a very sad thing
to do. Please don't come up with "I was forced into it, because they did
X to me". Hiding behind other people's actions to justify your own
isn't right.

If people go on flaming eachother long enough about who is wrong and who
is right, everybody will be wrong in the end. A lot of energy will have
been wasted, and a lot of people driven away from what should be
a good, free OS. What happened is history. It's sad that it happened,
but there we are. There's really no need to go through all this again.
What good will it do?

Let's just get back to working on BSD-based systems, each in the way
we prefer, and with the people we prefer working with. I do believe
that was the original intention, wasn't it?

Please let this thread die. Jordan was quite right for asking this thread
to be removed from comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc. I hope it disappears from
this group as well. I'm certainly not going to respond to any followups.
If you have the irresistible urge to flame me to hell, you can do so by email,
it'll be entertaining.

Have a nice day.
