Some time ago someone posted a patch for mtools so it could also
read low density floppies in a high density drive.  This patch
wasn't really accepted (I believe) since it used the devices minor
to distinguish between those 2.

But I think it should be possible to read both low and high density 
floppies in a high density drive. 
Has someone actually made a solution that IS acceptable?
