Brian Paul has informed me that I'm incorrect on this point.
Apparently, there are some poeple who are adapting Mesa to 3d
accelerators.  But at this point, I'm not sure that they're doing it
in a way that will make the support publically available.  Anyone care
to clarify this issue?
