Early releases of BSD Unix included a library of bitmapped fonts (in the
traditional vfont format, which was later adopted by Sun). They used to be
stored in /usr/lib/vfont, if I remember rightly. At least until SunOS
4.1.3, SunOS came with metrics for those fonts (the metrics were stored in
/usr/lib/font).

But it's been a long time since I've seen the fonts themselves. Do they
still exist? If so, it would be easy to convert them to a modern format
(I believe the vfont format was originally designed for Versatec plotters).

If anyone can send me information, I'd much appreciate it.
