Hiya Net Friends,

I just recently installed FreeBSD from Walnut Creek's CD set and
everything went smoothly. I think I made one fatal mistake that
I hope you can help me with.

When using the Novice install it asked me if I would like to configure
my network and I decided I would. I filled in my machine name of
"perfect" and my ISP's domain of eramp.net.

I later went into /etc/sysconfig and editted my computer's name down to
"perfect". When this didn't solve my problem I changed it to
"localhost".

Here is my problem: I can use the window manager /usr/X11R6/bin/xdm just
fine. Any of the others fvwm, xwm, xsd, etc. gave me the error that they
could not open my display.

I therefor typed: setenv DISPLAY :0.0 and got the error:
	TRANS(SocketINETConnect)()can't connect:errno=61
	Can't open display :0.0

I then typed the same command but used: localhost:0.0
Error message was the same except for 61 became 2

I know this is something I have done and would appreciate knowing what
files I need to edit and what to add or remove from them.

I know this letter is getting long but I need to say one more thing.
For the people out there flaming FreeBSD, I find it a very good, stable
system. It can be installed and the kernel modified in a little over
60 minutes. I was running NT but in terms of sending large files over
the internet, number of windows that can be opened, and processes that
can be run FreeBSD wins hands down (plus a lot of excellent free
software). I can do 32000 bits a sec of actual data transfer on a
28.8 modem (after subtracting overhead in the packets).

For those out there actually hacking on this code instaed of shooting
your mouth off thanks for the service.

Please, if you get the chance send your answers to syntax@eramp.net
as well as posting them so after this is fixxed I can thank you all
publicly.
