Subject: X kernel and x386install won't work (HELP!!!)

I finally got all of the files onto 386bsd and they all
untarred and stuff fine, but now my problems are starting.
I tried to run x386install and I got an error saying
(right bracket): file not found
(Sorry, silly IBM doesn't include brackets in their EBCDIC)
I don't know what is causing this, so I tried to install the
generic 386bsd X Kernel from agate, as I do not have to
room to recompile the core. When I rebooted I got a message
saying 386bsd not in executable format and the system would
not load, I had to use the fixit floppy to get it loaded again.

Can someone please give me a hand as none of these errors
are making sense. Thanks
  -Dan
