OK, now, with the benefit of hindsight, I can safely say that the IDE 
support is fine.  It's just that the damn ide kernel supplied on the disc is 
rotten!  :-)

Or maybe not.  All I know is, it didn't work for me until I did my own 
custom rebuild, and remade the wcd0 device.  This should not be necessary!

The docs are somewhat misleading, too, saying the IDE CD-ROM *must* be a 
slave device.  Not true.

I do hope they'll clean this up for the next release and spare any other 
newcomers the anguish I just went through.
