Umm, not to be too much of a moron, but how would I do that? I assume that
there's some sort of timing loop somewhere in one of the probe routines,
but I really am not knowledgable enough to figure out where.  I realize
that I'm not really the type of user that -current is aimed at, but I did
see that there were lots of changes made in the IDE & ATAPI stuff since
2.2-SNAP-950503 (or whatever), so I thought I'd try it out and see if one 
of them solved the problem.
