Like Linux, it's a very good PC Unix (better than any of the
commercial PC Unices IMO).

You'll find it interesting comparing Linux and FreeBSD. There will
probably be some things you prefer about FreeBSD and some things where
you prefer the way Linux does things. As I don't know you, I can't
tell which ones those will be - you'll have to find out for yourself 8-)

If you've made the cultural adjustment to having a Unix on your PC,
you shouldn't find anything in the FreeBSD install difficult to
understand.

You can buy them from a number of outlets, not just direct from Walnut
Creek; Infomagic also produce CD's with FreeBSD on. Unlike Linux,
there's only one distribution of FreeBSD (which is prepared by the
FreeBSD developers BTW), so the Infomagic one will probably be very
similar (haven't actually seen one myself, at least not since version
1.0.2 of FreeBSD 8-).
