I could not get ppp -auto to work communicating with a Shiva LAN-Rover (it complained about an unknown protocol). Pppd on the other hand worked a treat. I could not get sendmail to work properly in that setup (it really wants to be connected to the Internet) but I compiled and installed smail in ports. the example director file had to be modified where indicated to deal with an HDB 'uux', and the config file was set up to specify my uucp feed as a smart host. The only problem I have had is when sending mail to a list, the "To:" line contains the list name rather than the expansion from the list file.
