Hey Dave,

I don't really have an answer for you.  I had the same problem some time 
back and asked about it here.  I was simply told that the driver was 
extremely buggy and that the original author wanted no part in fixing 
it.  At one point I believe I saw mention of a volunteer who was going 
to fix it but that was the last I heard.  If you can use another card 
I'd recommend it.  Check the FreeBSD home page for a list of cards with 
more reliable drivers....
