Hello,

I have a P120 configured with two EIDE drives and one empty SCSI-2 drive (on an
AHA-2940UW). The SCSI-2 drive is working perfectly fine under Linux 1.99.x.
However, I would like to try out FreeBSD 2.1 to compare the two on the same PC.

I picked up a Walnut Creek CDROM of FreeBSD 2.1 the other day. I managed to
get it to install fully. At the time of installation, I did not specify a boot
manager because I currently have LILO handling my two EIDE drives (Win95 on one
and Linux on the other). I added an entry in LILO for the SCSI-2 drive (BSD),
and it finds the kernel, boots up until the point where it tries to mount / and
then a kernel panic occurs. The only thing I can do at this point is reboot.

Might this be a LILO problem (I'm not entirely sure its configured properly to
handle the FreeBSD drive) or something didn't install properly on the SCSI-2
drive?

Here are the entries I have in /etc/lilo.conf:

# Linux bootable partition config begins
image = /vmlinuz
  root = /dev/hdb1
  label = Linux
  read-only # Non-UMSDOS filesystems should be mounted read-only for checking
other = /dev/sda1
  label = BSD
  table = /dev/sda
  loader = /boot/chain.b
# Linux bootable partition config ends
# DOS bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/hda1
  label = MSDOS
  table = /dev/hda
# DOS bootable partition config ends

Thanks.

Greg.
