Error message is: "Cannot resolve 'ftp.freebsd.org'! Are you sure the
nameserver, gateway, and network interface are configured?"

- I'm sure the info I'm entering is right, and I'm entering info in the menu
  correctly as well
- using boot.flp diskette from floppy
- going through firewall, tried active and passive ftp installs from menu
- using a new-out-of-the-sealed-box 3com 3c509 ethernet card
- verified network connection (including aui cable and transceiver) works
on adjacent machine which is logged into ftp.freebsd.org
- machine has 515M hard drive which I dedicated completely to freebsd
- no other error codes during set-up
- tried selecting "Other" in menu, in case there's a nameserver problem (as
the faq suggests), and entered "ftp://165.113.58.253/pub/FreeBSD/2.1.0-
RELEASE" - still can't find it (verified this ip address with nslookup
  on another workstation)

I assume that I don't need to add a driver or any other software before
trying to use the etherlink card since the docs say it's supported??

I think the failure is local software, but what?

For the moment, I've tried everything I can think of - also read everything I
could find.

Is this where I should sob uncontrollably, or is there hope?
