Hold on there! My daughter has been going to UMCP for two years. The 
dorms are wired for direct Network connections via 10-Base-T (RJ-45) 
connection. You don't need PPP or dial-up; an NE-2000 net card or similar 
with RJ-45 connector will do the job. You already have (or can get) a 
fixed IP address and all other info. Call the  CSC building for details.
