Yes, get rid of all that rubbish and dedicate your PC to FreeBSD 8-)

Seriously though, I have a mixed IDE/SCSI setup as well and just boot
from the FreeBSD installation floppy - at the boot prompt, type

boot: hd(1,a)/kernel

This is with the SCSI disk dedicated to FreeBSD, but I think it should
work with a "mixed" disk as well.

If you're feeling adventurous, you might think about installing
fbsdboot or osbs in place of the OS/2 boot manager. (I haven't tried
either of these myself).
