Not true! However you will have to install a boot manager of some kind
to get at your FreeBSD disk - or just boot off the install floppy
(which is what I do with my two disks).

Yes, 'dd' is a standard Unix command. However, making your own boot
floppy is rather tricky in FreeBSD (work is in progress on making it a
bit easier). As I mentioned above, you can boot off the install floppy
- it'll give you a prompt where you can tell it which disk to boot
off. Not particularly elegant, but it works.
