If the above works, "ifconfig ed0 inet dar netmask 0xffffff00 link2" should
work.  Have you tried setting ifconfig_ed0 to "inet dar netmask 0xffffff00
link2" ?  Have you made sure that /etc/inet.conf says hosts before bind ?
Have you made sure that ed0 is in your network_interfaces variable ?
