GATEWAY is obsolete and no longer supported in newer systems (newer
than 2.1R), though it used to work.

Use gateway=YES in your /etc/sysconfig in newer systems, or explicitly
hack

	sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1

into your /etc/rc.local otherwise.

If it still doesn't work, provide us with the routing table (netstat
-rn), and with some details.

This is hard to say -- you didn't tell us the error message.
