Did you build config before you ran config:?  I was the one who asked Terry
to replace patch0001 with the one from CDG.  It has some changes to the
config program, thus you must rebuild config before rebuilding a kernel.
The problem with vers.o not being found is caused by using the old config
program.  Do the following after installing the patch kit and before 
attempting to build a kernel:

	1) cd /usr/src/usr.sbin/config
	2) make
	3) make install
	4) make clean 		# to save some disk space
