Daring to challenge the will of the almighty Leviam00se, Chris Mauritz
(ritz@ritz.mordor.com) had the courage to say:

: When I try to use tcpdump, I get:

: tcpdump: /dev/bpf0: Device not configured

: Can someone nudge me in the right direction to get the
: filter device configured for snoopage? :-)

: Chris

Add 'pseudo-device bpfilter 4' to your kernel config file and build a
new kernel. Note that the IntelEtherxpress 16 driver (ix) doesn't
have BPF support at this time.
