It really amazes me to see _anybody_ ranting about Win95 multitasking
in a forum including large umbers of Unix newsgroups. I use a Mac, but I'm
not about to run around claiming it's designed for the sort of things Unix
can do. My Mac runs multiple programs at the same time, and so I do,
whenever I feel like it. That hardly makes it preemptive multitasking,
certainly doesn't mean it's a multi-user system, etcetera.
It works for what I want it to do, with some exceptions. The exceptions
would bring Win95 to its knees every bit as easily as MacOS. I'll not even
bother getting into the falseness of our anonymous friend's claims. Other
people can and will do it. I just felt like pointing out the staggering
hubris of even bringing up single-user OS multitasking in an environment
filled with Unix people. It's a bit scary. Did he have even the faintest
of clues?
