I'm supposed to set up a FreeBSD box as a router between a local
Ethernet and an ISP. I think I've done everything right, but when I
try to ping the outside world ping tells me "no rooute to host".

Here's what I've done:

In sysconfig I set the box's IP to x.y.z.97, and netmask to ffffffd0 (it's
a 32-host subnet).
I set the gateway option on. But I do not give a default gateway.

In ppp.config I specify device and speed, and CHAP info.

In the ppp program, I enter "term", then use AT commands to my
BitSURFR to dial the ISP. It connects, enters packet mode, and comes
back to the PPP prompt. Then I say "add 0 0 HISADDR".

At this point I think it should work; but ping (even to the gateway,
i.e. the machine on the other side of the PPP link) fails with "no
route to host".

What have I done wrong?

Thanks,

Paul Reynolds
