I am using the version of amanda (2.2.6) distributed with bsdi 2.1.

My problem is that after running the first tape, amadmin refuses to read
the database and will not allow me to do a "amadmin config balance" I'm
getting the following error message (when run as a user on the tapehost
other than bin)

>new-ns:~$ amadmin magic balance
>amadmin: could not open info db "/var/log/amanda/magic/curinfo"
>
>new-ns:~$ l /var/log/amanda/magic/
>total 42
>drwxrwxrwx 2 bin operator 512 Apr 26 10:02 .
>drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 512 Apr 25 13:54 ..
>-rw-r--r-- 1 bin operator 10078 Apr 25 18:47 amdump.1
>-rw-r--r-- 1 bin operator 16384 Apr 26 09:59 curinfo.db
>-rw-r--r-- 1 bin operator 0 Apr 25 17:23 curinfo.dir
>-rw-r--r-- 1 jpb operator 11504 Apr 26 10:02 ktrace.out
>-rw-r--r-- 1 bin operator 1469 Apr 25 18:47 log.19960425.0

and this message if I run as bin

>$ /usr/contrib/bin/amadmin magic balance
>amadmin: bogus seq number 13 for new-ns:sd0a
>$

When I tried compiling the sources for myself rather than use the bsdi
binaries distributed with 2.1, I got similar error messages.

Anyway, would someone who is successfully running amanda 2.2.6 using a bsdi
2.1 system as the tapehost please send me email?

Thanks,

Joe Block <jpb@magicnet.net>
