Hello all!!

I am looking for a high end video card to replace my current Mach64
accelerator card. I like the ATI a lot but I am purchasing a new
monitor (Viewsonic PT810 21") and I need a card that can use it's full
capabilities. The catch? I need a video card that works well under
Windows '95 and has good support under X-Windows in FreeBSD.

I know there are numerous documents and FAQ's as far as suggested
hardware but I would like an end-user's recommendation. I use Windows
'95 for my web page creation and desk top publishing/rendering and I
use X-Windows for my basic interface to FreeBSD (Hence if all my modes
are not available under X it will not be the end of the world). I am
unsure as to whether or not I should look for a card with MPEG
hardware since things haven't really been standardized yet. On the
other hand I don't want to worry about purchasing a new card in less
than a year....

In any case, any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. Again,
I am most interested in high end Windows support but I would still
like to have accelerated X in high resolution mode.

Thanks to all who respond!!

-Dave
