I have finally uploaded to nova.cc.purdue.edu at pub/386BSD/submissions
a minimal XFree86 with compressed size of
1.45Mbyte. Uncompressed at 2.3Mbyte. I believe it is useful for people
who just want to experiment with installing X386.
	I call it small_X11r5.tz . I hope I've not broken any rules.

README.smallx:

This collection of X utilities and directories enable a user to
have a minimal X-window terminal.
The only software provided is the xterm but it will allow you to
test the capabilities of the X11.
To get more help with xterm, type xterm -? after putting up the
X window. You can change the xterm settings online by pressing
CTRL and mouse button simultaneously.
To create another window at a different location, use the
geometry option. See .xinitrc for examples.
To install, just type install. Make sure you are a super user.
The Xconfig should allow you to start with the lowest resolution. To get
higher resolution, type CTRL, ALT,and +.
You may have to change the mouse settings. The default in the
Xconfig is PC or mousesystems type mouse i.e. 3-button, which is the
preferable mouse.
