OK, so I added the lines

device psm0 at isa? port "IO_KBD"  conflicts tty irq 12 vector psmintr
options PSM_NO_RESET

to my kernel config file and rebuilt the kernel, also did the 
  sh MAKDEV psm0

but the mouse still doesn't work.


When the machine boots up I see the "psm0 .. IRQ 12" stuff, but
that is it.  Is there something else I may have forgotten?
