I just installed FreeBSD 2.1.0-RELEASE and found ps doesn't work right
with kernel.GENERIC or the kernel I compiled.

Symptoms:
1. ps doesn't show the %CPU usage
2. neither does top-3.3 from packages-2.1
3. systat -vmstat complains the alternate system clock died (??) and
reverts to pigs display

I have tried/am trying:
0. reinstall everything from scratch from ftp.FreeBSD.org, which doesn't
work
1. compile my own copy of top-3.3 from ports-current
(How can I update my /usr/include or tree outside of /usr/src with
sup? When I'm compiling top, the ports patch required a new <rlist.h>,
which I didn't have.)
2. recompile libkvm and ps, which doesn't work
3. grab all of src-stable and make world (which I have been doing for
last couple of hours)

My system configuration:

Intel 486DX 33
20 MB RAM
wd0: 200 MB drive with dos
wd1: 1030 GB drive with FreeBSD: 175 MB /root, 600 MB /usr, 58 MB swap,
and 200 MB /home
wcd0: Sony CDU-76E quad speed CD-ROM
ed1: NE2000 NIC at 0x300 irq 10
ATI Graphics Ultra Pro 2MB (works with X very nicely)
Gravis Ultrasound 1MB

My /etc/fstab:
/dev/wd1s2b none swap sw 0 0
/dev/wd1a / ufs rw,userquota,groupquota 1 1
/dev/wd1s2e /usr ufs rw,userquota,groupquota 1 2
/dev/wd1s2f /home ufs rw,userquota,groupquota 1 2
/dev/wd0s1 /dos/c msdos rw 0 0
proc /proc procfs rw 0 0
kern /kern kernfs rw 0 0

Can someone see what is wrong?

Also, has anyone been able to compile WorkMan to work with IDE/ATAPI
CD-ROM, especially the Sony CDU-76E? It compiled okay but keeps on
complaining about invalid arguments in getcdinfo(). I don't remember
exactly what was the message; it was about two weeks ago when I last
tried it.

Please reply by email.
