This thing is called a Memory File System (MFS) on FreeBSD.
Read the man page for mount_mfs. Recompile the kernel with 
"options MFS", too.

For example, my /tmp is an MFS. This is from my /etc/fstab:

/dev/sd0b                       /tmp            mfs     rw,-s=20480 0 0
