Summary: Finally! Yay Amancio.

Amancio Hasty, 386BSD guru, has ported X11R5 to the S3.
He claims functionality on the Actix GraphicsEngine
and Orchid Fahrenheit 1280. The port is a modification
of Kevin Martin's X8514 server.

It would be a Good Thing (hint hint) if someone got this up on
Linux prontissimo; I know some people whose acceptance of Linux
depends on S3 functionality. It is one of the major graphics
chipsets, and to see it unsupported for so long has been a serious
detriment to the cause of free X on the PC.
