We are just testing a BSDI 2.1 machine on a 64Kbs TCP/IP kilostream line to
our NOC just a mile away, and are seeing very slow transmission speeds to the
NOC servers compared to more remote machines on the Internet which seem to be
accessible at expected speeds. This is particularly evident when using Telnet
or FTP where everything to the servers just a mile way is in slow motion.

We believe that reducing the MTU could well resolve this problem, but cannot
work out how to do this within BSDI 2.1 - perhaps we have overlooked
something very simple I don't know.

Any words of wisdom regarding the MTU size or the local speed peculiarity
would be most welcome.

TIA.

Regards,

Adrian.
