I was having a similiar problem.  My solution was CMOS configuration of 
PCI bus was not setup properly, worked OK in DOS.  I used 2/9 for Video.  
I don't know what else to choose for the other cards in your system.

I don't know about the ATAPI cdrom, no experience.
