I'd recommend you either go with free bsd or stay with Linux....
Drivers are not as plentiful with BSDI, though the payoff is
that we have an industrial-class server that refuses to crash...
even when the root hard-drive grinds to a halt!
BSDI costs serious money and in most cases the support you get
from the "Net" is quicker and more on-point than what you get
from *any* support line.
Pick carefully the Linux version you run with.
