  No.  They are to the net2 distribution which is not what freebsd has.

  I started recently and it looks like most of it is pretty easy.  The
big problem is that freebsd has a lot of nis code that would need to be
either moved out or integrated.  I do not really have the time to make
sense of the nis code and see what should be doing what.  What is the
-current library based on?

  Well, named and friends work fine.  the sole problem is the
libraries.
