Not sure, but I'd guess 4GB, since the filesystem is most likely 32-bit.

Yep. Using the ccd (concatenated disk driver), you can stipe/RAID1 several
partitions or disks into a single logical volume. There are ccd versions
for FreeBSD 2.1R and 2.2-current. I'm trying out the 2.2-current right now
on a news server with 3 4GB SCSI-Wide drives combined together. So far, 
it has been pretty quick, but a little bit unstable. If it doesn't make 
it through the night tonight, I'm going to rebuild with 2.1R instead.
