Sure :-) I just did what you asked off of a (very loaded) SPARCstation IPC, with
a NCD19r as the X server. If you're a 386 fan, please sit down before you read.

whitney!db 222 % x11perf -bigtilerect500
x11perf - X11 performance program, version 1.3

Sync time adjustment is 11.6733 msecs.

   300 reps @ 23.0611 msec ( 43.4/sec): 500x500 161x145 tiled rectangle
   300 reps @ 23.3278 msec ( 42.9/sec): 500x500 161x145 tiled rectangle
   300 reps @ 23.0611 msec ( 43.4/sec): 500x500 161x145 tiled rectangle
   300 reps @ 23.1278 msec ( 43.2/sec): 500x500 161x145 tiled rectangle
   300 reps @ 23.0944 msec ( 43.3/sec): 500x500 161x145 tiled rectangle
  1500 trep @ 23.1344 msec ( 43.2/sec): 500x500 161x145 tiled rectangle

Looking at the values between brackets, the 386es are only about a factor of 20
slower.
