Speaking of recompiling the Xserver to use (pk?)malloc (sorry, I'm not
100% sure of my recollection) would someone in the distribution group be
willing to apply tht malloc to the Xservers or at least make it a
seperate package for those using X. I have 27 megs of vmem on my system
and find that it goes to nearly 80% capacity if I leave X running for
more than a day or two under normal useage. By this point it makes
running Netscape or any other large program a close call unless I restart
the server. Does the standard malloc return the memory to the system
when there is finally a memory crisis? If no one has the time or
interest to recompile the Xservers I'll be willing to do it myself in a
few weeks when I get a larger HD and can actually afford to hold the
sources on my system. I'm using the svga server but will be happy to
recompile any others on request for those who aren't as comfortable or
have limited system resources as I do right now.
