We are currently using CERN httpd and it is a solid and reliable product. I am
setting up the replacement for our (overworked) web/proxy server and I intend
to use "Spinner" as a replacement. It has less overhead and is much faster.
Check it out at:

CERN httpd is in the FreeBSD ports collection, you don't need binaries compile
it yourself.

Spinner compiles "out of the box" as long as you install the latest versions
of:
bison (available from the Spinner site and FreeBSD packages)
        m4 (ditto)
        gnu make (FreeBSD ports)

I would like to here about anyone who has run Apache in conjunction with the
"Harvest" cache as an Internet accelerator. This is another exciting caching
proxy possibility. Both Apache and Spinner can support multiple domains on a
single machine (in conjunction with the ifconfig "alias" capability of BSD
4.4). So multiple web servers can run with different names.
