He may not get your point, but equally, you are not getting his. His claim
is that a considerable section of these linux users have influence on the
purchase decisions in their organisation, *even* if the those decisions
are not linux related. 

I for one, have in the past enquired about certain pieces of hardware for
home linux use. Some vendors (that *are* in the home market, but not 
apparently wholeheartedly) seem to have thought at the time that I wasn't
worth replying (or replying properly) to, because I was interested in linux
and/or because I didn't provide an office address. The bad luck for them is
that I *do* have influence on what hardware/software gets bought here at 
work (and we may be buying a lot before the year is out), and in my book
these guys have now been blacklisted. Linux or no linux.

So the message is: treat your (potential) customers well, whoever they are,
for you never know who they really are.
