It will help if you enclose your error messages. I have just finished
configuring for a mono display. In fact I'm typing on a mono dispaly now.

The problem is that vga2 driver only uses 64K no matter how much RAM you
have. Actually the error messae tells you that.

The config shuld not exceed 800x600 virtual size, same thing with your
modes.
