True. You got me there -- but BusLogic has been more than helpful in
assiting in the creating of drivers for their Multimaster series of
controllers, even going so far as to allow the author use of their
compatability testing lab to test certain cards.

Another similar occurance is what happened with Connectix and the QuickCam --
the protocol was reverse-engineered; eventually Connectix released the
documentation but will not provide any tech support, and requires that
any code derived from the documentation be explicitly stated as
not being supported by Connectix.
