I've just converted my system from running smail3 to sendmail, and I
have one niggling problem.

We have lots of large mailing lists, and I have deliveries failing
with "too many open files" from sendmail.

How can I increase this safely from the defaults? (We have source, so
recompilation of just about anuthing is possible.)

I know it's a dumber question than I'd like to be asking, but i'm just
buried...

Thanks.
