Trying to install 386bsd 0.1, I'm getting a problem. I've already
successfully installed it on one machine, but the other one is
proving a problem, so I messed around and tracked it to the
Hard Disk, by putting just the Hard Disk in the machine that
works.

The boot disk boots OK, and installs, but when the machine reboots,
it can't seem to find the disk label.

It is literally just the Hard Disk, which is an ALPS DR312C IDE 202MB.

I've tried the cgd newbootable which fixes a register timing problem on
the hard disk control, but this has absolutely no effect, part
from it crashes earlier.

I've also tried mounting the installed disk from the fixit floppy, but
also it reports no disklabel.

Any ideas?

I get the following output (the standard distribution boot disk)....

wd0 (ALPS Electric co LTD,. DR312C) at 0x1f0 irq 14 on isa
changing root device to wd0a
wd0: cannot find label (no disk label)
