Probably because Netscape for BSDI has no Java Support, but the linux
version does. At least that's the reason I run it :-(.

Concerning the original question: Try COMPAT_LINUX instead of
LINUX_COMPAT, I think there was a typo in the description of the
linux_lib package. Make sure /usr/sbin/linux actually finds the
correct entry symbol, that was another cause for failure.
