Daring to challenge the will of the almighty Leviam00se, Chris Mauritz

If I'm not mistaken, /usr/include/utmp.h. UT_NAMESIZE is #defined
to be 8 there. You'll need to increase it to whatever value
you need. There are libraries (including libc) that use this header,
which means the changes involved are non-trivial.

: Oh my god, not that! :-) Does anyone really use NIS?

They better after all the work I've been putting into it. :)

If all you have are FreeBSD machines, then you can safely modify
all of them and still use NIS between them. If you have any other
boxes that you can't change (due to lack of source code), then at
best you'll have to create a seperate domain for them with 'normal'
usernames.
