The price of NE2000 compatible cards is S $165 and less but they will not
let my try on my system. THE reason could be that they are not keen on
selling to individuals. They are not even keen to test it on their systems.
These cards are mostly made in Taiwan. I believe the manufacturer
may be more keen to let people test their cards but the salesmen are locals
who believe that they know everything there is to know about networking.
The same is true with display cards but that is easy to test.

Is it possible to test an ethernet card on just one machine? I'm thinking
of sending from localhost to the ethernet card?
I no longer believe in probe because of bad experience with 3Com
cards. It did not detect any problem except the message inteerupt 9,
instead of 2? Is this a clue?

Any comment is most appreciated?
