Hi there...

my POP3 server drives me more crazy then SLIP as it times out all the
time. Here is a typical message:

Feb 25 13:36:33 server popper[5227]: (v2.1.4-R3) Servicing request from
"slip6.server.mydomain.com" at 1.2.3.4
Feb 25 13:36:41 server popper[5227]: -ERR POP timeout
Feb 25 13:36:41 server popper[5227]: (v2.1.4-R3) Ending request from ""
at (slip6.server.mydomain.com) 1.2.3.4

Now: Why does it time out only 8 seconds after its inital request when I
specified the T 120 option. Also, howcome there is no username there.
Notice how it sais Ending request from ""??!?? What gives!?
This problem is initially not there, but once the server is running for
bout a day or so it happens...then I reboot the server and everything is
cool for another day...Geez if that keeps happening i have to put reboot
in my nightly maintance (and I don't wanna do that:). Also this problem
is only found on dial-in SLIP lines, on our internal network its rare.
I'm almost positive now tho that its not a problem with SLIP but POP3.

To top it off this problem started once I switched my network media from
COAX to twisted pair (same network card, different media).
Any suggestions?...thanks in advance :)

Tom
