Could someone please help me with getting ppp set up to go through my ISP.

I read the faq and the handbook and followed all the settings. When I connect it switches to packet
mode and I shell out but cannot do anything. Ping, telnet, or ftp.

Here are the following settings:

nameserver 204.118.1.2 In the host.conf file or whatever the hb says, I am not in front of it now

sysconfig has the gateway 204.118.1.1 and netmask 255.255.255.0 The name of the gateway is
scratchy.itsnet.com which is what I put. The name of the nameserver is itchy.itsnet.com

My ISP assigns dynamic addresses using a different router (I think) called homer at 204.118.1.3

in the ppp.conf file I disable pred1, vjcomp and others, I have tried disableing all as well
I also have the line ifaddr 0 0.

I currently have nothing in the ppp.linkup because according to the hb i need the following
	x.x.x.x:
add 0 0 HISADDR where x.x.x.x is my ip. but since it is dynamic I do not know that
so I type this line after connecting and switched back to packet mode

When logging in, I load my provider, use term to call and log in, then type the above add 0 0 HISADDR

Everything looks ok, it just doesn't work Does anyone know what could be wrong?
I really appreciate anyone who would take the time to read and reply via e-mail. Thanks
