Hello

Two days ago I noticed an unregular reboot of a computer that mainly
serves as our departments' mailserver. The last command output said
that a non-privileged user had logged in, done something and about 12
minutes later the machine crashed.... and rebooted to normal operation.

I asked the guy about the things he had done, and he said he was trying
to telnet to another machine. He had started telnet with no arguments
and then entered a few characters and that must have crashed the machine.

So, is the telnet code buggy, or what could have happened?
