With an Intel X11 floating around for 386/486 unix machines, has anyone
ported the source for ms-dos?

It would be nice to be able to 'slip' into the bsd box without supporting
a full 2nd unix box just to be a smart terminal.

I hear that X11R6 will have Xremote. Will that be an unix thing, dos thing,
or both (or should I say - a generic X thing)?

Most of the X packages for mos-dos cost big $$$, too much for us poor
university employees who want to connect once or twice a week during the night.
